I still can’t believe it has been a year since our wedding. It still feels like yesterday. A destination wedding was so perfect for us as I shared in my previous blog, Why a Destination Wedding Worked for Us. When I was thinking about a blog post for our anniversary, I thought it would be fun to share inside our wedding weekend in Cancun since I hadn’t started my blog yet. I am definitely not certified to give “marital advice” one year in, so lets look back and relive the most amazing 6 days of my life.
When our guests arrived in to Mexico they received a welcome bag from us in their room!
Our custom koozies came from Totally Koozies. They say LET LOVE BREW on the back! Sunglassville made creating our sunglasses so easy.
I made the custom door hangers that also had a reverse side that said “Shhh, recovering from The Sharenko Wedding.” Was able to make myself on Vista Print. I purchased the hand sanitizer and sunscreen in bulk from Dollar Tree online!
I just used plain brown paper gift bags and got these stickers made to put on them. Vista Print!
All of the bridesmaid received beach bags at my bachelorette party to bring use in Mexico. This is a picture of mine from Embellish Monogram on Etsy.
I created this custom itinerary to be included in the welcome bags so everyone knew the schedule for the weekend. I grabbed the map from the resort website!
My family and some friends arrived to the resort on Wednesday, but the majority of the guests arrived on Thursday. Thursday night we hosted a Welcome Cocktail at one of the bars in the resort. Had such an amazing night, and only have one photo with my brother!
Friday we had the entire day to hang out with everyone! We had a full beach day with all of our guests before the rehearsal dinner that night.

Yes, that is a Bride trucker hat. Trek and Unicorn on Etsy.
This is a roof top deck at The Finest Resort which was transformed with tables for our rehearsal dinner. Sadly, I don’t have any pictures of the set up from the rehearsal dinner. I worked very hard to bring all the decor and create a nautical theme with seashells and navy, gold and pink accents. Just having too much fun to grab by phone! The entire weekend was document by the amazing Lloyd Fisher from Oak Avenue Photography. He was so amazing with all of my crazy family and the moments he captured were so magical.
Our rehearsal dinner was a beautiful and emotional night. After dinner and some scheduled speeches, we opened the floor for anyone to share a story about Ben and I. Yes, Ben wore his Atlanta Falcons football jersey because we were playing in the Super Bowl the following week and that’s what he wanted!
Sometimes, you wake up on your wedding day and it is raining. So everything you practiced the day before and planned for a year is going to be thrown out the window. The best part is, it will stop raining with plenty of time for your wedding, but not enough for them to still set up outside and the humidity will be so high you can’t have sound equipment outside. But in the end, NONE of it mattered and we truly wouldn’t change a thing of how everything turned out.

Party Time! So much dancing. So much tequila. Obsessed with my family.
I planned every piece of this wedding myself. The resort wanted $5 a tea light and I bought a 24 count box at Michaels for $6.99. Yes, this meant we brought 7 bags to Mexico but I spread them out amongst the family and friends flying from Atlanta and used duffle bags, so on the way home we only had 4! Yes, some things broke in transit. Yes, I forgot a major item and my father in law went to our house to bring down for us. Everyone was willing to help at any moment, and it was truly magical to all come together in this beautiful place to celebrate Ben and I. I know you are completely over seeing pictures of our wedding so don’t worry I am finished…for now.
